Siege Comms in Aion Classic: Voice for Alliances and Leagues
Aion Classic scales groups the hard way: a group is 6 players, an alliance is four groups (24), and a league chains eight alliances into up to 192 players marching on an Abyss fortress in a one-hour vulnerability window. The siege lead has one voice, and on Discord that voice reaches exactly one channel. A voice relay fixes it: every alliance keeps its own channel, and the lead's calls land in all of them at once.
How Aion Classic structures large fights
- Group of 6, alliance of 24 (four groups with a captain and vice captain), league of up to 192 (eight alliances).
- Fortress sieges run on a schedule: a fortress becomes vulnerable for one hour, both factions plus Balaur pile in, and the kill on the Guardian General decides it. Alliances recruit in LFG right before the window opens.
- Legions grow from 30 to 90+ members as they level, so a serious legion plus its siege allies always spans several alliances.
The comms problem at league scale
A league siege on Discord means several alliance channels fighting as one force. Put everyone into one channel and the lead's "swap to the artifact, now" drowns in nearly two hundred voices; split them per alliance and only one alliance hears the call. Discord has no native broadcast: every account, including a bot, can occupy exactly one voice channel per server. In-game there are readiness checks and text, but a siege window is won on voice.
How to set it up on Discord
dcshot is a voice relay service for Discord, built for MMO raid callouts. Setup for an Aion Classic legion takes minutes in the web dashboard:
- Create a channel per alliance (Alliance 1 to 8, or per role: main, artifact team, defense).
- Add the relay bots: one bot covers one channel, up to 16 per Discord server.
- Mark your siege lead as the caller; optionally mark an info caller per alliance so captains report status straight to the lead.
- Players just join their alliance channel. Nothing to install, no second app.
For joint sieges with an allied legion, dcshot can share voice across up to four Discord servers, so one lead can call for both legions without anyone switching servers.
When you don't need a relay
A single group or one alliance of 24 fits in one shared channel, and that is the right tool. A relay starts paying off when two or more alliances need their own comms and still have to hear one lead, which in Aion Classic terms means fortress sieges and any league-scale operation.
Facts worth knowing
Latency
Calls arrive in every channel with sub-second latency, fast enough for artifact swaps and gate calls in a live siege.
Reliability
dcshot runs on a multi-server cluster with automatic failover. If a server fails mid-siege, bots migrate to a healthy machine within seconds.
Pricing
Credit-based, no cash subscription. Run bots on siege nights, drop to zero between them. A month at zero costs nothing and credits never expire.
Scale
Up to 16 relay bots per Discord server. A full league of 8 alliances needs 8 channels, so there is headroom to spare.
Ready before the next vulnerability window. Setup takes minutes and players install nothing.
