Node War Shotcalling in Black Desert: Discord Voice Setup
In Black Desert node wars the shotcaller is the voice everyone commits to: when to engage, when to bomb, when to reset. The game groups players into parties of 5 and platoons of 20, and a Tier 3 node war fields up to 75 guild members at once. On Discord that means several voice channels fighting as one body, and one voice can only sit in one channel. A voice relay fixes it: platoons keep their own comms, and the shotcaller is heard in every channel at the same time.
How BDO group content is structured
- Parties cap at 5, platoons at 20, and guilds at 100 members.
- Node wars (after the April 2026 revamp) cap participants per guild by tier: up to 30 in Tier 1, up to 50 in Tier 2 and up to 75 in Tier 3, depending on the day.
- Conquest wars decide castle ownership in sieges of up to two hours.
- War of the Roses runs 300v300 battles every two weeks, mixing a leading guild with individual mercenaries.
The comms problem on war night
A 75-player Tier 3 roster is fifteen parties or four platoons. Put them all in one Discord channel and the caller's "bomb now" competes with seventy people calling targets; split them into platoon channels and the caller reaches one platoon only. Discord has no native broadcast: every account, including a bot, can occupy exactly one voice channel per server. That limit is why war comms fall apart, not the caller.
How to set it up on Discord
dcshot is a voice relay service for Discord, built for MMO raid callouts. Setup for a BDO guild takes minutes in the web dashboard:
- Create a channel per platoon or squad (Platoon 1 to 4, cannons, flank).
- Add the relay bots: one bot covers one channel, up to 16 per Discord server.
- Mark your shotcaller; optionally mark an info caller per platoon whose voice reaches only the caller's room, so flank reports flow up without spamming the war.
- Players just join their platoon channel. Nothing to install, no second app.
For joint operations with an allied guild, dcshot can share voice across up to four Discord servers, so one caller can lead both rosters without anyone switching servers.
When you don't need a relay
A single party or one 20-player platoon fits in one shared channel just fine. A relay starts paying off when two or more platoons need their own comms and still have to hear one caller. In BDO terms that is any serious node war from Tier 2 up, conquest wars and War of the Roses.
Facts worth knowing
Latency
Calls arrive in every channel with sub-second latency, fast enough for engage and bomb calls in live wars.
Reliability
dcshot runs on a multi-server cluster with automatic failover. If a server fails mid-war, bots migrate to a healthy machine within seconds.
Pricing
Credit-based, no cash subscription. Run bots on war nights, drop to zero in the off-season. A month at zero costs nothing and credits never expire.
Scale
Up to 16 relay bots per Discord server. A 75-player Tier 3 roster in platoons of 20 needs 4 channels, so there is room to cover parties, cannons and flanks separately.
Ready before your next node war. Setup takes minutes and players install nothing.
