Command Channel Comms in Lineage 2: Voice for Sieges and Epics
Lineage 2 invented half the vocabulary of organized MMO play: the CP (constant party of 9), the command channel that chains parties into one raid, and clan wars decided at scheduled castle sieges. The game even gives the command channel leader a text broadcast. What it never solved is voice. A siege force is many 9-player parties, and on Discord one voice reaches one channel. A voice relay fixes it: every party keeps its own channel and the leader's calls land in all of them at once.
How Lineage 2 structures large fights
- Parties of 9, with the CP (constant party) as the basic social unit of any serious clan.
- Command channels chain two or more parties into one raid body; loot rules on big epics historically demanded dozens of players (90 or more in a command channel for raid rights on Essence).
- Clans scale to 200 members on the main version (40 on Essence), with alliances of up to three clans.
- Sieges run on a schedule: on main, all nine castles are contested at once every two weeks in a two-hour Sunday window; Essence sieges Giran and Goddard weekly.
The comms problem at siege scale
A siege force of eight or ten parties in one Discord channel means the leader's "swap to the inner gate" competes with eighty voices; per-party channels mean the call reaches nine people. Discord has no native broadcast: every account, including a bot, can occupy exactly one voice channel per server. The in-game command channel broadcast is text only, and nobody reads chat mid-fight at the Seal.
How to set it up on Discord
dcshot is a voice relay service for Discord, built for MMO raid callouts. Setup for a Lineage 2 clan takes minutes in the web dashboard:
- Create a channel per party (CP 1 to CP 8, or per role: mains, archers, tanks).
- Add the relay bots: one bot covers one channel, up to 16 per Discord server.
- Mark your CC leader as the caller; optionally mark an info caller per party so party leaders report status straight to the leader, mirroring the in-game leader-to-leaders channel.
- Players just join their party channel. Nothing to install, no second app.
For alliance sieges, dcshot can share voice across up to four allied Discord servers, so one leader can call for the whole alliance without anyone switching servers.
When you don't need a relay
A single CP of 9 fits in one shared channel, and that is the right tool for daily farming and small raids. A relay starts paying off when two or more parties need their own comms and still have to hear one leader: command channel raids, epic bosses and castle sieges.
Facts worth knowing
Latency
Calls arrive in every channel with sub-second latency, fast enough for target and gate calls in a live siege.
Reliability
dcshot runs on a multi-server cluster with automatic failover. If a server fails mid-siege, bots migrate to a healthy machine within seconds.
Pricing
Credit-based, no cash subscription. Run bots on siege Sundays, drop to zero between them. A month at zero costs nothing and credits never expire.
Scale
Up to 16 relay bots per Discord server. A ten-party command channel needs 10 channels, so a full siege force fits with headroom.
Ready before Sunday's siege. Setup takes minutes and players install nothing.
